ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University Male and Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 22nd are men’s wrestler Tyler Rowe (Barrie, Ont.) and women’s wrestlers Olivia Di Bacco (Orillia, Ont.) and Jessica Brouillette (Barrie, Ont.), who earn co-honours.
Rowe, a third year Physical Education major, helped lead the Brock men’s wrestling team to gold at the 2015 Ontario Sr. Championships. The former junior national champion, captured first place at 70kg as he defeated CJ Hudson by the score of 8-4. For his performance, Rowe was named 2015 Outstanding Male Wrestler.
Di Bacco, a fifth year Kinesiology major, helped lead the Brock women’s wrestling team to a first place finish at the 2015 Ontario Sr. Championships. She also captured gold at 69kg. Di Bacco defeated Lakehead’s Heather Brousseau by pinfall in her opening match and won by technical superiority over Jesse Hotte from the Mariposa WC 10-0. For her performance, she was named 2015 Co-Outstanding Female Wrestler.
Brouillette, a third year Sociology major, posted a perfect 4-0 record to finish first overall at 63kg. She recorded victories over Team Impact’s Shauna Kuebeck by technical superiority (10-0), Guelph’s Alison Carrow (6-1), Team Impact’s Larissa D`Alleva (7-3) and Team Impact’s Brooke Jarrett (11-0). For her performance, Brouillette was named 2015 Co-Outstanding Female Wrestler.
