The 12 year wait is over for David Bell. The Niagara IceDogs got their man.
The longtime assistant coach in both the OHL and AHL ranks, Bell has had stops in Owen Sound, Barrie, Springfield and most recently here in Niagara.
Paying his dues along the way the new head coach feels that it is finally time for him to take the next step in his coaching career. and the Icedogs feel that he is ready, promoting him to the first head coaching position of his career. As a instrumental part of this years IceDogs Eastern championship run he showed he is ready to be the top man behind the bench at the young coaching age of 39.
Bell knows that the team is going to be young next season, but that is part of what gets him excited about the opportunity. He has a fresh start, something that he has had experience with in the past. He understands that it is about looking at the big picture and the development of their young talent.
Announced today there isn’t going to be much rest for the new bench boss, he will be on the ice for rookie camp June 4th.
