STCATHARINES, ON – Monday, April 4, 2016 –The Canadian Lacrosse League (C-Lax) has announced its 2016 All-Rookie Team and it features plenty of future superstars.


Vaughn Harris—Ohsweken Demons

This is the second all-star team that Harris has been named to this season, having been selected for the C-Lax Second Team All-Stars last week week. The 23 year-old rookie enjoyed a breakout season with Ohsweken, notching 24 goals and 21 assists en route to earning Rookie of the Year honours.


Phil Caputo—Niagara Lock Monsters

Caputo was a standout in 2016 for the Lock Monsters, registering 26 points (15 goals, 11assists) in 10 games. The Brampton, ON native finished second in C-Lax Rookie of the Year voting and looks poised to be a staple in the Niagara line-up.


Cody McMahon—Durham Turfdogs

At 5’7”, McMahon is the smallest player on the Turfdogs’ roster but he plays a big game. The 24 year-old rookie finished second in team scoring with 36 points (18 goals, 18 assists) in 12 games and also added a goal and an assist in the Creator’s Cup Final. McMahon was a 2016 finalist for the C-Lax Rookie of the Year Award.


Tyler Roche—Barrie Blizzard

Defense is the hardest position to play in most sports and excelling in the position as a rookie is all the more challenging. Tyler Roche, however, was up to the task. In 9 games with Barrie this season, the 21 year-old Brooklin native collected 4 goals and 6 assists while manning the backend.


Mike Triolo—Durham Turfdogs

The former Buffalo Bandits draft pick had a solid 2016 campaign with the Durham Turfdogs, scoring 8 goals and 12 assists in 10 games. At 6’5”, Triolo is an imposing figure on the turf and once he gets going, he’s almost impossible to knock off the ball.


Gowah Abrams—Ohsweken Demons

The Demons were rife with rookie talent this season and included in that group is goaltender Gowah Abrams. The Basom, NY resident appeared in 4 games this season, collecting one win and posting an 11.98 GAA and .748 SV%.
