ST CATHARINES, ON – Thursday, February 4, 2016 – On Sunday, February 7 at 2 p.m. the Niagara Lock Monsters host the Durham Turfdogs at the Meridian Centre.  The Turfdogs took game one of the season series on a thrilling last second goal however; Niagara leads the all-time head-to-head series 4-3.

The Niagara Lock 12553028_734813546655344_6408488401172926120_nMonsters are back in action after a bye week in week three.  They will be looking to continue the momentum generated from a dominating 15-6 victory over the Southwest Cyclops in week two, which gave them their first win of the season.  An already potent offence, which is averaging 13 goals a game received an added boost with the addition of Craig England from the Buffalo Bandits.  He contributed immediately scoring four goals in his debut.  The quartet of Fowler, Thenhaus, Caputo, and England will be tough to stop for any team.  Defensively, it appears that Connor Danko has staked his claim in net for Niagara.  Danko is now 1-0 on the season with a tidy 8.11 GAA and a .809 SV%.  Danko’s strong play will compliment a defence that has allowed a league low 11.3 goals per game this season.

The Durham Turfdogs will be looking to bounce back after their first loss of the season last weekend to Ohsweken.  The Turfdogs are extremely well coached, and it’s hard to think that they won’t come out with a strong effort against Niagara.  Their league best offence is averaging 14.5 goals per game and the duo of Jesse Guerin and Dylan Goddard has been one of the best in the league.  2016 has also seen the emergence of Thomas Hoggarth.  Hoggarth was part of a very talented 2015 rookie class and was named a second team all-star as well as a member of the all-rookie team.  Hoggarth is poised to surpass his rookie totals from last season before the halfway point this year.  Goaltender Ryan Masters continues to lead a defence that has allowed just 11.75 goals per game.  Masters is now 2-1 on the season with a 12.72 GAA and a .790 SV%.
