STCATHARINES, ON – Tuesday, March 8, 2016 – The Canadian Lacrosse League (C-Lax) is pleased to announce its Players of the Week for week eight of the 2016 season.
Offensive Player of the Week: Dan Keane – Southwest Cyclops – Keane collected 5 goals and 2 assists in week eight, which included 3 goals in the fourth quarter versus Niagara.
Honourable Mention: Andrew Potter – Niagara Lock Monsters – Potter picked up 3 goals and 1 assist inSunday’s win over Southwest, which included the overtime winner to clinch first place.
Defensive Player of the Week: Mitch Dumont – Niagara Lock Monsters – Dumont has earned a reputation as one of the league’s top defenders. He was outstanding again on Sunday adding a goal and an assist in a big Niagara victory.
Honourable Mention: Mark Farthing – Durham Turfdogs – Typically known as a transition player, Farthing was outstanding on defence this weekend using his speed and positioning to disrupt two potent offences.
Transition Player of the Week: Graham Bergsma – Southwest Cyclops – Bergsma has been a great addition for the Cyclops. He picked up 2 goals and 3 assists in 2 games in week eight.
Honourable Mention: Daryl Robertson – Barrie Blizzard – Robertson picked up one goal on Sunday but it couldn’t have been any bigger as he notched the overtime winner for Barrie.
Rookie of the Week: Cody McMahon – Durham Turfdogs – McMahon continues his strong play picking up 4 goals and 2 assists over the weekend. He finished the regular season, second in rookie points with 26.
Honourable Mention: Spencer Pyke – Southwest Cyclops – Pyke continued to develop as the season progressed. He picked up 2 goals and 3 assists in two games in week eight.
